Colocation

Metering a tenant can be billed from

In a shared cage the feed is a commercial instrument, not a status light. The energy register is a 1 grade billing-grade meter at Scale 0.1 kWh, and current, voltage and power report at +/-1% on the same line, so a tenant statement and a capacity plan read from one source.

Where the tenant boundary sits

A multi-tenant cage draws the commercial boundary at the outlet group, not at the row. Per-outlet metering puts the boundary where the tenant lease puts it, and the energy register keeps counting at 0.1 kWh steps so a monthly statement reconciles against a sub-meter rather than against an estimate.

Built-in RTC, power-loss held
  • Figure the tenant is charged on energy per outlet
  • Figure that catches a runaway current per group
  • Figure that survives a transfer event log
A tenant who moves a rack does not move the meter. The reporting line stays with the circuit, and the event log keeps the change with a timestamp the built-in RTC held through the outage.

Parameters a lease is written against

Colocation line sheet

These are the figures that end up in a colocation schedule: what the register reports, at what step, and how many tenant circuits one unit can carry.

Per-outlet metering is what separates a tenant statement from a share of the room. The register has to be a billing grade, the step has to be small enough to reconcile, and the reading has to leave the unit without a technician copying it by hand.

One unit can report every tenant circuit in the cabinet on its own line, so a rack that changes hands mid-term keeps its history instead of starting a new log.

Figures a tenant statement is built from

Each cell is one register group on the tenant line. The step matters as much as the accuracy: a 0.1 kWh register reconciles against a rented sub-meter, an estimate does not.

  • Energy 0.1 kWh 1 grade billing register. The smallest step the tenant total reports.
  • Depth Per outlet One reporting line per tenant circuit, so the boundary follows the lease.
  • Current 0.1A +/-1% + 1 digit on each line. Catches a circuit drifting toward its breaker.
  • Voltage 1V Meter window 90V ~ 350V, so a sag is recorded instead of lost.
  • Event log 20,000 Entries held through power loss by the built-in RTC. This is the audit trail.
  • Data path SNMP / Modbus 10/100M Ethernet plus one RS485 port, embedded web server, SMTP alerts.
A tenant sub-meter and this register see the same electrons. Publishing both is what turns a metered feed into a defensible invoice.

Certificates, named and held

The certificate list states the title, the standard and the legal holder, which is what a colocation operator's compliance file asks for. Certificate numbers are not printed here; scans come with the current line sheet on request.

Send the rack

Tenant circuits, current, metering depth

Tell us how many tenant circuits one unit has to report on, the current per feed and whether the energy register has to be billing grade. The reply is a configured quotation with a per-line specification sheet, in English.

Inquiries are answered within 12 business hours. The register map travels with the specification sheet, so billing can be wired up before the unit lands.
