Event log and RTC
The board keeps up to 20,000 entries with an RTC that holds the clock through power loss, so a fault still carries a date after the rack has come back.

What the record is built on
Two columns, one row per item, so the storage and the clock on a design file can be checked against the unit that will carry them.

A record that keeps its date when the rack does not
A power loss is when a record is worth most and when an undated one loses its meaning. The RTC keeps the clock through the loss, so an entry written before it and an entry written after it stay in order, and the window around the fault reads back as a sequence rather than a pile.

What one entry carries
Each row is a field on the record: what it holds, and where the value behind it comes from.
-
Timestamp
Taken from the RTC, so an entry keeps its date through the power loss it may be read against.
-
Line
The feed or the outlet the value belongs to, so a crossing can be traced to one part of the rack.
-
Value
Written at the published scale: 0.1A, 1V or 0.1 kWh, at ±1% plus one digit behind it.
-
Event
The threshold crossing that raised the message, with the line and the value that crossed the set point.
-
Read path
The same entry is read from the embedded web page, over SNMP, or from a Modbus register.
Reconstructing a window
Three stages, in order. The window comes from the buyer; the sequence comes from the clock on the board.
Name the window
The stretch of time around the fault is named, and the entries inside it are read back over Ethernet or RS485.
Match the entry to the line
The dated entry names the line and the value, so the crossing can be set beside the meter total for the same feed.
Set it beside the visit
Where a technician noted a reading on the display during the fault, the two records carry dates and can be laid side by side.
